Patbingsu

There's this Korean dessert that I was just dying to try since before I even got here. It's called patbingsu. It's shaved ice with sweetened red beans on it. Or at least it used to be. Now you get it with a bajillion things on it besides just sweetened red beans. And it's good.

I finally got to try some in the Lotte food court on Monday. The American teacher that I relplaced was still here, so he was showing me around and took pictures of me eating it.

When the lady brought it out to me, it was WAY bigger than the one that I had pointed to. Later, I was told by the American teacher's Korean girlfriend that the lady said she gave me the big one because I was a foreigner. Awwwwwww.

Anyway, it was shaved ice with red beans on it, green tea ice cream, gummy candies, fruit cocktail, and CORN FLAKES. Here I am eating it:

Mmmmm yummies. It was expensive though. $4.50. That's a lot considering you can have a giant sit down dinner for like $6-8 dollars.

Chomp chomp chomp.

that sounds like a six year old boy's childhood fantasy food ... or more like something you would have cooked up with Julie in 9th grade.
